The Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC) Ogun State Sector Command has triggered a massive search surge from motorists and logistics companies after announcing an emergency traffic diversion along the ultra-busy Lagos-Ibadan Expressway.
The traffic advisory is trending heavily because it impacts Nigeria’s most critical commercial land transportation corridor, where any sudden adjustment directly disrupts thousands of daily commuters and freight operators.
According to the official directive signed by Superintendent Route Commander Afolabi Odunsi, the temporary diversion was necessitated by the Federal Ministry of Works deploying Buildwell Construction Company to carry out the critical installation of overhead warning gantries on bridges along the highway.

The infrastructure work is specifically localized around the first major bridge situated directly in front of Mountain Top University at Kilometer 13, heading outward from Lagos toward Ibadan.
The structural operations are hitting their peak on Thursday, June 25, 2026, prompting the FRSC to implement a strict, time-sensitive routing system. Under the temporary layout, all passenger cars, buses, pickup vans, and mini-trucks heading toward Ibadan are being entirely diverted off the main expressway through the Magboro Under-Bridge.
These vehicles must navigate through Ibafo town before safely rejoining the primary highway at the NASFAT U-turn.
To prevent severe structural gridlock during the heavy lifting phases, the FRSC noted that heavy articulated vehicles and container trucks will be temporarily held back completely in 60-minute intervals. Commuters are actively sharing the traffic updates to warn travelers to plan for major transit delays.
