Billionaire industrialist and Chairman of the BUA Group, Abdul Samad Rabiu, is at the center of fierce national socio-political debate following a public war of words between the presidency and the traditional institution of Kano.
The corporate magnate began trending heavily after the Emir of Kano, Muhammadu Sanusi II, delivered an uncompromising speech firmly defending Kano’s ancient commercial legacy.
Speaking at the 60th-anniversary celebration of the Institute of Chartered Secretaries and Administrators of Nigeria (ICSAN) in Kano, the Emir openly challenged recent remarks made by Vice President Kashim Shettima at the Invest Lagos Summit 3.0.
Shettima had controversially stated that Lagos, not Kano, "produced" Africa's richest men, pointing directly to Aliko Dangote and Abdul Samad Rabiu as products of Lagos's superior economic governance.
