Six Oyo Federal Lawmakers Dump PDP for APM Following Governor Seyi Makinde's Footsteps

The political landscape of Oyo State and the national structure of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) suffered a massive blow on Tuesday, June 2, 2026, as six federal lawmakers from the state officially defected to the Allied Peoples Movement (APM).

The earth-shaking cross-carpeting was formally announced during plenary by the Speaker of the House of Representatives, Rt. Hon. Tajudeen Abbas, upon the lawmakers’ resumption from the Sallah recess.

The strategic mass defection comes as a direct show of absolute solidarity with the Oyo State Governor, Engr.

In a parallel political development at the same plenary session, the House Minority Leader, Hon. Kingsley Chinda, officially resigned his leadership position following his defection from the PDP to the All Progressives Congress (APC).

Chinda, a staunch ally of the FCT Minister, Nyesom Wike, had previously clinched the APC governorship ticket for Rivers State ahead of the 2027 elections.
