Tactical Forces Neutralize Six Armed Bandits in Zamfara State Twin Assault

The Zamfara State Police Command, in a highly coordinated tactical counter-offensive with sister security agencies, has neutralized at least six heavily armed bandits following a botched afternoon raid on Kanoma Town and Gidan Daji Village within the Maru Local Government Area of the state.

According to an official media brief issued on Wednesday, June 10, 2026, by the command’s spokesperson, Yazid Abubakar, the violent confrontation erupted at approximately 11:00 AM on Tuesday when a large network of criminal insurgents stormed the communities.

The assailants were armed with sophisticated military-grade weaponry, including rocket-propelled grenades (RPGs), general-purpose machine guns (GPMGs), anti-aircraft guns, and AK-47 assault rifles, intending to inflict mass casualties.

Following an immediate local distress broadcast, a formidable joint security contingent—comprising police tactical teams from the Maru Division, military troops attached to Operation Fansar Yamma, operatives from the Violence Crime Response Unit (VCRU), and local community vigilantes—swiftly mobilized to the theater of conflict.

The state forces locked the attackers in a fierce, high-caliber gun duel, successfully shattering the bandits' operational lines and forcing the surviving militia to retreat into the deep forest with severe, life-threatening bullet wounds.

Abubakar confirmed that six bandits riding on two escape motorcycles were completely neutralized during the operation, with zero casualties recorded among the defending security personnel or local inhabitants.

This victory comes less than 24 hours after a separate joint team repelled a grueling two-hour bandit onslaught along Gadar Manya in the Anka Local Government Area.
