A chilling confession by an arrested commercial driver has exposed the sinister underworld network behind the high-profile abduction of Mrs. Busayo Olaide—sister to Nigeria's former Minister of Power, Chief Adebayo Adelabu—and her young twin sons, Paul and Peter.
In an exclusive jailhouse interview with the Nigerian Tribune from police custody on Saturday, June 13, 2026, the syndicate's operational driver, Segun Balogun (popularly known within garage circles as Alawaye), admitted his full involvement in the operational execution of the crime, shockingly revealing that the gang's foundational target was actually the elderly mother of the former minister.
Balogun, an active member of the local transport union who operated out of the busy Iwo Road Motor Park at the World Oil axis in Ibadan, disclosed that he was recruited into the criminal enterprise by the gang leader, Adewale Abolarinwa, alias Oloro (The Poisonous One), whom he had known for over a decade.

Balogun explained that during a political outing at the Liberty Stadium in May, Oloro explicitly quizzed him on whether the former minister’s mother was still alive and where she resided.
After Balogun conducted a reconnaissance drive to her private residence, Oloro confessed his plans to kidnap her or any vulnerable child from the wealthy Adelabu dynasty, citing acute financial desperation.
Detailing the terrifying execution of the crime on Wednesday, June 3, 2026, Balogun stated that he drove the operational vehicle alongside three heavily masked gunmen—Oloro, Solution, and Kelechi.
The team staged a 20-minute stakeout along the Soka axis of the Lagos-Ibadan Expressway, waiting for the family vehicle conveying the twins to school to pass. On Oloro's command, Balogun swerved and intercepted the vehicle, allowing the gunmen to violently bundle the traumatized mother and her twins into their getaway car before fleeing toward Ayegun.
Balogun’s downfall materialized on Thursday when digital tracking of voice notes on his smartphone exposed his direct knowledge of Oloro's illegal firearms procurement.
Meanwhile, state security officials confirmed that the prime suspect, Oloro—who has a prior federal conviction for kidnapping—has been rushed from his cell to an undisclosed emergency ward under heavy military guard after staging a total hunger, water, and sanitation strike, refusing to cooperate with medical personnel as the hunt for the remaining gang members intensifies.
