Nollywood veterans Segun Arinze and Jerry Amilo have quickly debunked a wave of fresh public concerns surrounding the mental health and general well-being of their colleague, Hanks Anuku.
The internet anxiety was triggered after an outdated video clip resurfaced across major Nigerian entertainment blogs on Saturday, June 27, 2026, purportedly showing the famous actor sitting on the roadside in the Wuse 2 district of the Federal Capital Territory, Abuja.
In the brief viral footage, the actor was seen wearing weathered clothing, talking to himself, and holding a disposable cup, leading many internet users to allege that he was struggling financially or operating under the heavy influence of alcohol.

However, taking to the comment section of a prominent Instagram blog that circulated the clip, Arinze and Amilo immediately intervened to protect their colleague's reputation. Both screen stars explicitly clarified that the video was recorded several years ago during a previous challenging phase and does not reflect Anuku's current state.
"This is a very old video oo," Segun Arinze wrote inline to halt the spreading rumors. Jerry Amilo strongly supported this stance, adding: "PLEASE THIS IS AN OLD VIDEO. STOP SPREADING EVIL NEWS AND WISHES."
Anuku had previously opened up to the public in November 2023, attributing his past struggles with drinking habits directly to a prolonged battle with severe clinical depression following a lull in film roles.
By putting a swift end to the recycled narrative, his close industry associates have urged fans to verify media contents before amplifying malicious rumors. Fans have expressed immense relief across social media channels, commending the veterans for standing firmly behind their colleague against damaging online misinformation.
