Popular Nollywood actor Joseph Momodu has officially announced his enlistment into the United States Army, marking a monumental career transition from the silver screen to the military.
The actor successfully completed 10 grueling weeks of Basic Combat Training (BCT) at Fort Leonard Wood, Missouri. Breaking a 10-week social media silence, Momodu took to Instagram on Friday to share official photographs of his graduation, revealing his new military title as Specialist (SPC) J.A. Momodu, serving with the 1st Platoon, Charlie Company, 3-10, 3rd Battalion, 10th Infantry Regiment.
Momodu described the intensive training period as an incredibly demanding psychological and physical crucible characterized by total isolation from civilian life, extreme exhaustion, short nights, and harsh weather conditions ranging from freezing rain to the scorching sun.
He admitted there were intense moments of self-doubt where he questioned his decision, but his deep-seated belief in achievements earned purely through merit and resilience pushed him past his limits to the finish line, effectively going to sleep as a civilian and waking up a fully trained soldier.
"Today, it is official: Specialist (SPC) J.A. Momodu, United States Army, 1st Platoon, Charlie Company, 3-10, 3rd Battalion, 10th Infantry Regiment, Fort Leonard Wood, Missouri," Momodu proudly wrote. "I went to sleep a civilian and woke up a soldier."
The actor disclosed that his enlistment holds deep personal significance, as it directly honors the memory of his late father who served meritoriously in the Nigerian Police Force.
Exactly twenty years after his father's passing, Momodu viewed this military milestone as picking up the generational baton of service and carrying it forward onto the global stage.
He credited his success to divine grace, which enabled him to ace the Armed Services Vocational Aptitude Battery (ASVAB) examination on his very first attempt, completing the rigorous physical regimen without a single operational setback.
The newly minted specialist extended his profound appreciation to the Royal Family of Oba Momodu II of the Avyuele Clan in Agbede, Etsako West, Edo State, and praised the US Army Recruiting Station in Burbank, California, for making his transition seamless.
