In a masterclass of tactical precision and intelligence-driven security enforcement, operatives of the Nigeria Police Force have successfully rescued Mrs. Olaide Busayo John-Paul—the 43-year-old younger sister of former Minister of Power and All Progressives Congress (APC) governorship stalwart, Chief Adebayo Adelabu—along alongside her 12-year-old twin sons, Peter and Paul.
The highly sensitive rescue operation was executed seamlessly at around 7:30 PM on Saturday, June 6, 2026, within the outskirts of Ibadan, the Oyo State capital.
The family had been violently tracked and abducted three days earlier, on Wednesday, June 3, while Mrs. John-Paul was conducting a routine morning school run with her children.

The Force Public Relations Officer, DCP Anthony Placid, disclosed in an official statement that the operation was spearheaded by the elite Intelligence Response Team of the Force Intelligence Department (FID-IRT).
Utilizing sustained electronic tracking, surveillance data, and tactical field pressure, investigators successfully squeezed the kidnappers’ operational movements, forcing a direct kinetic confrontation in their forest hideout.
During the intense gun duel, two members of the kidnapping syndicate were fatally wounded, and two military-grade rifles were recovered by the police.
While the rescued mother and her twin sons were recovered entirely unharmed and are currently receiving administrative medical evaluations, specialized police units have intensified operations to sweep the area for fleeing suspects who managed to escape into the thick brush with severe gunshot injuries.
The Inspector-General of Police has highly lauded the resilience and unwavering commitment of the FID-IRT operatives for bringing the hostages home alive.
