Operatives attached to the Anti-Kidnapping Unit of the Ogun State Police Command have neutralized two suspected kidnappers and successfully recovered a firearm alongside millions of Naira in cash during a high-stakes tactical operation.
The successful raid was part of an aggressive, intelligence-led crackdown launched by the command to dismantle active violent crime syndicates operating across the state.
According to an official press statement released on Wednesday, June 24, 2026, by the command's spokesperson, DSP Oluseyi Babaseyi, the targeted operation was directly linked to the recent abduction of a civilian at Ogbe Village.
The security crisis began on June 11, 2026, when criminal actors abducted the unnamed victim within the Obafemi Owode Local Government Area.

Upon receiving the distress report, the command swiftly activated its specialized tactical resources and intelligence network, mounting immense operational and surveillance pressure on the criminal gang.
This relentless trailing forced the panic-stricken syndicate to release the victim entirely unharmed on June 18. Refusing to allow the perpetrators to evade justice, the police operatives shifted focus toward tracking down the gang's physical base.
"Acting on credible intelligence, the operatives successfully traced members of the gang to their hideout within the state," DSP Oluseyi Babaseyi disclosed in the official press release. "On sighting the operatives, the suspects opened fire in a desperate attempt to resist arrest and escape.
The operatives responded professionally, leading to a gun duel during which two of the suspected kidnappers were neutralized."
While several members of the criminal network managed to flee deep into the surrounding area with varying degrees of severe gunshot injuries, police teams immediately conducted an extensive forensic search of the immediate crime scene.
The search yielded one single-barrel gun, an expended cartridge, an operational mobile phone, and a cash sum of Two Million, Two Hundred Thousand Naira (₦2,200,000) strongly believed to be direct proceeds of ransom extortion.
Reacting to the development, the Ogun State Commissioner of Police, Bode Ojajuni, highly commended the Anti-Kidnapping Unit for their exceptional gallantry and reaffirmed the command's commitment to protecting the lives and property of residents.
