Ogun Police Arrest Translator and Driver Plotting N50 Million Chinese Expat Kidnap

Operatives attached to the Obalende Divisional Police Headquarters of the Ogun State Police Command have successfully crushed a highly coordinated insider criminal conspiracy to abduct a Chinese national, arresting two primary masterminds in connection with a premeditated N50,000,000 ransom extortion plot.

According to an official public statement released on Thursday, June 11, 2026, by the command’s spokesperson, Superintendent Oluseyi Babaseyi, the high-profile arrests were executed on Tuesday, June 9, 2026, at approximately 5:30 PM.

The tactical intervention followed actionable and time-sensitive security intelligence received by the Divisional Police Officer (DPO) outlining an imminent ambush along the busy Ijebu-Ode/Odogbolu Expressway corridor.

Preliminary structural investigations revealed that the principal suspect, 41-year-old Chinedu Onwuemena, worked directly within the target’s corporate establishment as an official translator and driver.

Onwuemena allegedly weaponized his position of trust, mapping out his employer's movements and routines to facilitate the planned abduction alongside his arrested partner-in-crime, 37-year-old Jimoh Ojo.

The state command further established that the duo operated in concert with a third fugitive accomplice who is currently evading tracking teams.

Ogun State Commissioner of Police, Bode Ojajuni, highly commended the Obalende tactical division for their rapid deployment and proactive prevention of a major international security crisis, confirming that the case has been transferred to the State Criminal Investigation Department (SCID) for total dismantling of the wider syndicated network.
