No fewer than 100 underserved residents of the Uvwie Kingdom in the Uvwie Local Government Area of Delta State have benefited from an intensive free medical outreach organized by the Nigerian Navy Ship (NNS) Delta.
The extensive humanitarian program, which took place on Saturday, May 30, 2026, was executed as part of strategic civic actions marking the Nigerian Navy’s landmark 70th anniversary.
Vulnerable community members who trooped to the venue accessed free medical consultations, laboratory diagnostics, dental checks, blood pressure screenings, blood sugar evaluation, children's deworming treatments, and direct dispensing of corrective medications.
Speaking on the medical intervention, the Commander of NNS Delta, Commodore Shehu Tasiu, emphasized that a healthy community remains intrinsically linked to a secure society.

He stated that the naval initiative was intentionally structured to reduce the heavy medical cost burden on fragile demographics who live with treatable ailments due to financial or geographical barriers.
Corroborating this, the Commander of the Nigerian Navy Hospital in Effurun, Navy Captain Umar Adamu, noted that patients diagnosed with complex medical anomalies would be referred directly to the base clinical facility for subsidized specialized follow-ups.
Representatives of the Ovie of Uvwie Kingdom, His Majesty Abe I, lauded the military leadership for maintaining excellent civil-military relations through direct community development.
