Harry Kane Becomes England's All-Time Top Men's World Cup Goal Scorer

England captain Harry Kane has officially written his name into the history books as the nation’s all-time top men's FIFA World Cup goal scorer following a decisive contribution in England’s 2-0 victory over Panama.

Playing in front of a packed crowd at MetLife Stadium in East Rutherford, New Jersey, the Three Lions unlocked a stubborn Panamanian defense in the second half to secure their passage into the knockout rounds as undefeated leaders of Group L.

Real Madrid midfielder Jude Bellingham broke the deadlock in the 62nd minute with a brilliant opening goal before turning provider just five minutes later.

Bellingham delivered a precise assist to Kane, who clinically slotted home his 11th career World Cup goal, moving him clear of Gary Lineker’s previous long-standing national record of 10 goals.

The monumental strike marks Kane's third goal of the 2026 tournament and brings his staggering overall tally for the season to 70 goals combined for club (Bayern Munich) and country.

"To get to 11 goals is a proud feeling," Kane told reporters after the match. "I spoke before the tournament about the World Cup being the biggest competition we play as professional footballers, so it is a proud feeling. I never take these moments for granted."

With 82 international goals in 116 appearances, Kane’s latest milestone ties him globally with German icon Jürgen Klinsmann and Hungarian legend Sándor Kocsis.

England manager Thomas Tuchel praised Kane's incredible physical conditioning and relentless hunger to push deep into the tournament brackets.

By securing the top spot in Group L, England have booked an intense Round of 32 knockout clash against Congo DR, scheduled to take place this coming Wednesday at the Mercedes-Benz Stadium in Atlanta.
