According to Arise News online, the Delta State Commissioner for Works, Rural Roads, and Public Information, Honorable Charles Ehiedu Aniagwu, has strongly defended Governor Sheriff Oborevwori’s declaration of President Bola Tinubu’s 2027 re-election bid as a top priority project.
Aniagwu explained that the governor’s stance is rooted in deep structural appreciation rather than political fear, noting that the federal government's economic re-engineering has radically transformed state finances across Nigeria.
He revealed that through these strategic economic policies, states that were previously unable to pay basic workers' salaries or clear pension liabilities have become highly liquid and self-sufficient.
The information chief asserted that Delta State has emerged as the most financially solvent and liquid sub-national in the federation, completely liquidating commercial bank debts while revolutionizing public procurement protocols.
Under the current administrative layout, verified indigenous contractors are uniquely granted a 40 percent upfront mobilization fee, with subsequent completion certificates fully processed and paid in less than seven days.
Aniagwu confirmed that this aggressive funding model enabled the total, successful completion of the highly anticipated Trans-Warri road project, fully executing over 15 critical bridges and multi-billion-naira giant storm drainages designed to permanently tackle regional flooding crises.
Addressing the internal friction within the state’s political spectrum, the commissioner dismissed allegations of anti-democratic practices concerning the loss of high-profile senatorial and legislative tickets.
Commenting on the defeat of prominent figures like Senator Ned Nwoko, Aniagwu noted that the politician was simply absent from the real grassroots field, choosing to stage isolated media gatherings at his private university rather than queuing up with everyday voters.
He emphasized that the state's entrenched zoning arrangement across the North, Central, and South senatorial districts remains fully respected, effectively neutralizing major political challenges because local stakeholders are focused on preserving an equitable transition of power.
