High-level community sources, who spoke exclusively under absolute anonymity, confirmed that the terrifying invasion occurred late Monday night, June 8, 2026.
A brave local vigilante operative identified simply as Amos, who rapidly mobilized to assist families during the active gun battle, sustained a critical gunshot wound to his leg and is currently battling for survival.
The tragic escalation in Kontagora unfolded barely twenty-four hours after another brutal assault claimed the lives of two young rural men, Sidiq Musa and Bashar Bisalla, who were shot dead without mercy by hidden gunmen while gathering commercial firewood inside a dense forest zone in Wawa, located within the Borgu Local Government Area of the state.
Heartbroken local residents revealed that the dangerous Wawa forest perimeter has transformed into a killing field, with at least seven young indigenous men slaughtered within the last 110 days alone while trying to forage for fuel.
Speaking to news outlets on Wednesday, local resident Habibu Mohammed heavily pleaded with the Federal Government and the military command to deploy elite tactical anti-banditry squads to the vulnerable outskirts of Kontagora to stop the unending community executions.
