The Zamfara State Police Command has successfully neutralized two armed bandits and disarmed a sophisticated Improvised Explosive Device (IED) during two separate tactical counter-terrorism operations across the state.
The operational successes were confirmed in an official statement released on Tuesday, May 26, 2026, by the command's spokesperson, DSP Yazid Abubakar.
According to the police repository, the first engagement occurred at approximately 12:30 a.m. on Tuesday when a heavily armed gang of hoodlums invaded the Funture area of Rugar Buda Village via the Nahuce District in Bungudu Emirate.

The terrorists began shooting sporadically to instigate panic among the local residents.
Rapidly responding to the security breach, police operatives and joint security personnel stationed at Nahuce mobilized to the scene, engaging the assailants in a fierce gun duel.
Two bandits were killed in the exchange, forcing the remaining criminals to retreat into the nearby forest with severe bullet wounds.
Regrettably, a 35-year-old local vigilante member, Kabiru Auwal, sustained a fractured hand injury from gunfire and is currently hospitalized.
In a related development on Monday, May 25, the newly established Violent Crime Response Unit (VCRU), working alongside the EOD-CBRN bomb squad, intercepted and safely detonated a victim-operated pressure-plate IED planted by terrorists along the Bilbis–Kuncin Kalgo Road axis, preventing casualties.
