However, this heavy utilization came at a massive cost, with reports revealing that nearly 30 MQ-9 Reapers were lost to hostile air defenses and ground strikes during regional operations.
These heavy losses in contested airspaces have pushed the U.S. Air Force to officially approve a new requirements document for an MQ-9 successor.
