Manchester City’s quest for another Premier League title suffered a major setback on Monday following a chaotic 3-3 draw against Everton.
Despite leading early through Jeremy Doku, Pep Guardiola’s side conceded three goals in a frantic 13-minute second-half spell, leaving their title destiny in the hands of Arsenal.
A double from Thierno Barry and a header from Jake O'Brien stunned the visitors, who were punished for defensive errors, including a significant slip by Marc Guehi.
Although Erling Haaland and Doku managed to salvage a point with late goals, the draw means City can only reach a maximum of 83 points.
Arsenal, currently on 76 points, now know that winning their final three matches will guarantee them the championship.
Pep Guardiola cut a frustrated figure after the match, admitting that the race is no longer in his team's control. “It’s better than losing, but it's not in our hands. Before it was, now it's not,” he said.
Former Gunners legend Thierry Henry noted that while the advantage has shifted to Arsenal, the race is far from over.
According to Qubes Magazine research online, Arsenal could mathematically clinch the title as early as May 13 if results go their way this weekend.
