Manchester United midfielder Casemiro has thrown his weight behind Michael Carrick to take over as the club’s permanent manager.
Carrick is currently leading the Red Devils on an interim basis following the recent departure of Ruben Amorim.
In a recent interview with ESPN, the Brazilian veteran—who is expected to leave Old Trafford at the end of the current season—praised Carrick’s leadership qualities and understanding of the club's culture.
“In my opinion, Carrick completely deserves the job at Man United... He deserves the club’s total trust,” Casemiro stated.
The former Real Madrid man believes Carrick has already demonstrated the technical and managerial prowess required to lead one of the world's biggest clubs.
According to Qubes Magazine, Carrick previously served as a first-team coach and had a successful brief stint as caretaker manager in 2021 before his time at Middlesbrough.
His current interim role is intended to last until the end of the 2025/2026 season, but Casemiro’s endorsement adds to the growing conversation about whether the United hierarchy should look no further for a permanent solution.
