Atlético Madrid Value Nigerian Forward at €60m After Short La Liga Stay

Spanish giants Atlético Madrid are reportedly open to sanctioning the shocking departure of Nigerian international forward Ademola Lookman, barely months after completing his high-profile winter move to Spain.

The 28-year-old Super Eagles talisman joined Diego Simeone’s side from Italian Serie A club Atalanta in February 2026 for a guaranteed fee of €35 million plus an additional €5 million in performance-related add-ons, signing a long-term contract until June 2030.

However, reports emerging from Spain and Turkey indicate that Atlético administrative chiefs are ready to listen to substantial summer transfer offers as part of a wider squad rebuild, with English Premier League heavyweights Manchester United, Arsenal, and Liverpool put on high alert.

Football insiders link Lookman's abrupt availability to tactical adjustments inside Simeone’s notoriously demanding defensive system.

While the former Everton, Fulham, and Leicester City winger is highly revered for his direct dribbling, quick transitions, and fluid freedom in attack, he has found it structurally difficult to adapt to Atlético's rigid off-the-ball obligations.

Despite these system frictions, Lookman still registered crucial moments on the pitch, scoring four La Liga goals alongside decisive strikes in both the Copa del Rey and the UEFA Champions League.

To recoup investment funds quickly and strengthen other tactical departments before the new season commences, the Madrid-based club has slapped a steep €60 million valuation on the dangerous forward.
