In an event described as a historic milestone in Nigeria's modern political evolution, President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has officially accepted the nomination of the All Progressives Congress (APC) to serve as its standard-bearer for the upcoming presidential election.
President Tinubu clinched the ruling party's ticket after accumulating a staggering 10,999,162 votes in a comprehensive direct primary election model, which allowed registered card-carrying party members across all 8,809 institutional wards nationwide to cast their ballots simultaneously.
The national collation proceedings, which were broadcast live across global streaming channels and major television networks to maximize transparency, reached a climax at the Bola Ahmed Tinubu International Conference Centre in Abuja.
The process was officially supervised by the National Collation Chairman and former Senate President, Anyim Pius Anyim, alongside state collation officers, primarily comprising APC governors.

In states not under APC administrative control, high-profile cabinet members took charge, including the Minister of Marine and Blue Economy, Gboyega Oyetola (Osun), and the Minister of Health, Prof. Ali Pate (Bauchi), while Rivers State Governor, Siminalayi Fubara, notably served as a collation officer after his dramatic withdrawal from the state-level gubernatorial primary race.
According to the official data breakdown announced by Anyim, the APC boasts a total nationwide membership database of 12,643,316 individuals.
For the presidential primary exercise, 11,069,756 members were successfully accredited, with 11,015,665 total votes recorded.
President Tinubu's sole challenger, Stanley Osifo, received a warm ovation from party leaders for his political courage despite securing only 16,504 votes globally and registering zero votes across 21 individual states.
Following the announcement, APC National Chairman Nentawe Yilwatda, supported by members of the National Working Committee, formally presented President Tinubu with his official Certificate of Return and the party's flag.
Anyim praised the direct primary framework, stating that the inclusive voting method successfully neutralized the financial irregularities and vote-buying networks typically associated with traditional delegate-based national conventions.
