Tragedy in Ondo: Woman Slumps and Dies While Accompanying Child to UTME Centre

A distressing incident has thrown the community of Ilara-Mokin, Ondo State, into mourning after a woman identified as Oluwasola Adebayo slumped and died near a Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination (UTME) centre. 

The tragedy occurred on Tuesday, April 21, 2026, while her child was reportedly inside the hall writing the examination.

Eyewitnesses reported that Mrs. Adebayo began feeling weak shortly after arriving at the venue before collapsing.

Despite efforts to revive her, she was confirmed dead on the spot. 

Authorities were notified immediately, and the Ondo State Police Command confirmed that her remains have been released to a relative after verification.

The incident occurred during the final days of the 2026 UTME, which saw over 2.2 million candidates participate nationwide. 

While the official cause of death is yet to be confirmed, the event has cast a shadow over the ongoing national exercise.
