The Secretary of the National Consultative Front (NCFront), Yunus Akintola, has sent a firm message to the political class: the 2027 presidency must remain in the South.
During a live broadcast on Nigeria Info FM on Monday, April 20, 2026, Akintola insisted that the unwritten pact of rotating power every eight years is the only viable mechanism for keeping Nigeria together.
He argued that because the North has completed its respective cycles, any attempt to move power back to the North prematurely would be a breach of trust.

Akintola touted the proposed Obi-Kwankwaso ticket as a "pro-people" movement capable of revitalizing the economy and improving security. He specifically noted that the Southeast has been marginalized for too long and needs a seat at the head of the table.
Akintola also directly challenged former Vice President Atiku Abubakar to support the third-force coalition.
He suggested that by stepping aside for the Obi-Kwankwaso alliance, Atiku would solidify a legacy as a legendary statesman, comparable to Goodluck Jonathan.
He concluded that the ADC remains the most stable platform for this coalition while other major parties struggle with internal crises.
