The Nigerian media community is in mourning following the death of Temisan Okomi, a highly respected sports broadcast journalist.
Okomi, who was a prominent voice on Classic FM 97.3, reportedly passed away on Friday, April 17, 2026.
The news was confirmed by his colleague at News Central, Olawale Adigun, in an emotional post on X (formerly Twitter).
Adigun expressed his shock, stating, “The worst way to go into the weekend is hearing about Temisan Okomi’s passing. I’m so gutted... This man meant so much to me.”
Okomi was a veteran in the industry, having contributed his expertise to organizations such as Lagos Television (LTV) and HiTV.
Known for his deep insights and passion for football, his final post on social media, dated April 14, reflected his love for the game, where he remarked on the difficulty of the Champions League.
Fans and colleagues across the country have since taken to social media to pay tribute to a man described as a mentor and a professional per excellence.
