The Ogun State Police Command has successfully rescued five students of Gateway Polytechnic, Sapade, who were abducted by armed criminals on April 27, 2026.
The rescue followed a distress call that led police to an abandoned vehicle riddled with bullets and bloodstains.
The Commissioner of Police, CP Bode Ojajuni, mobilized a massive tactical operation involving SWAT, the Anti-Kidnapping Unit, and OP MESA.
Following intense pressure and "coordinated bush combing," the students were rescued on Tuesday, April 28.
Command spokesperson Babaseyi Oluseyi confirmed that the kidnappers engaged officers in a gun duel but were overwhelmed by superior firepower, fleeing with gunshot wounds.
The victims have been evacuated and are receiving medical attention. This follows a similar success in Kogi State, where 17 pupils were recently rescued from an Islamic school abduction.
