Former IGP Muhammad Adamu’s Team Challenges Governor Sule’s Successor Choice in Nasarawa

The race for the 2027 Nasarawa State governorship has taken a contentious turn as the campaign team for former Inspector General of Police (IGP), Muhammad Adamu, officially challenged Governor Abdullahi Sule’s reported endorsement of a preferred successor.

Speaking on TVC News on Tuesday, April 21, 2026, the campaign manager, Alasan Adams, dismissed the Governor's choice as a "personal verdict" that does not bind the party.

Adams reminded the Governor that he holds only a single vote in the upcoming primaries and warned that early endorsements are fueling unnecessary division within the Nasarawa APC.

“The Electoral Act only recognizes candidates chosen through consensus or direct primaries, not an executive order.

The residents of Nasarawa must be allowed to pick their leader through a transparent process,” Adams stated.

The campaign team also raised concerns about the APC's recent performance, noting that the Governor’s preferred candidate had previously defected to the SDP, a move they claim weakened the party during the 2023 senatorial polls.

The former IGP has reportedly concluded grassroots consultations and remains committed to a "fair playing field" for all aspirants.
