Grieving Mother Denies Smear Campaign Against Slain Daughter in Benjamin Best (Killaboi) Trial
Cordelia Onuab, the mother of the late 21-year-old Augusta Onuab, has vehemently denied defense claims that her daughter was unfaithful or violent toward her boyfriend, Benjamin Best (popularly known as Killaboi).
Testifying as the second prosecution witness before Justice Ibironke Harrison at the Lagos State High Court, Cordelia dismissed the defendant's narrative as a calculated move to evade responsibility.
During cross-examination, the witness clarified that a physical altercation during a vacation to Seychelles was sparked because the defendant smashed Augusta’s phone while she was recording content for work. She rejected allegations that Augusta destroyed hotel property or was involved in "hookup culture."
In a poignant moment, Cordelia revealed that she had received gifts totaling ₦1.175 million from the defendant in the past, but saved ₦1 million of that sum specifically to pay an informant to help track down the defendant after he fled.
She maintained that the wounds found on the defendant’s hands were self-inflicted during his attack on her daughter in July 2023.
