The Nigerian Army has laid to rest the remains of Brigadier General Oseni Braimah, Commander of the 29 Joint Taskforce Brigade, alongside Captain Ismail and other brave soldiers who paid the supreme price during recent insurgent attacks in Borno State.
The internment took place on Wednesday at the Maimalari Cantonment Cemetery in Maiduguri.
The burial was attended by high-ranking dignitaries, including Governor Babagana Zulum, Minister of Defence General Christopher Musa (retd.), and the Chief of Army Staff.
Tributes poured in for the fallen heroes, described as true patriots who stood firm against Boko Haram and ISWAP fighters during the strategic April 9 assaults on Benisheikh.
Despite the somber atmosphere, the conflict remains volatile. On Wednesday afternoon, troops of the 115 Task Force Battalion in Askira Uba repelled a fresh, hour-long assault.
Regrettably, four soldiers were killed in the fierce gun battle after being taken unawares by insurgents armed with superior ammunition.
Meanwhile, reports from Monguno suggest heightened tensions as troops allegedly torched structures in the Charlie 2 community, citing security concerns that the area was being used as a hideout for terrorists following the IED ambush that killed Lt. Col. A. Mohammed last Sunday.
