The medical community in Bayelsa State is in mourning following the tragic death of Dr. Ere Ogbachi, a registrar at the Niger Delta University Teaching Hospital (NDUTH).
Dr. Ogbachi passed away on April 14, 2026, due to complications that arose shortly after she successfully delivered a set of triplets.
According to a statement from her brother, Meshack Sintei, the doctor was rushed from NDUTH to the Intensive Care Unit (ICU) at the Federal Medical Centre (FMC), Yenagoa, as her condition deteriorated.
Despite the exhaustive efforts of her colleagues and medical experts, her oxygen levels plummeted, and she was confirmed dead at 2:45 am.
Dr. Ogbachi was a dedicated professional, a member of the Nigerian Medical Association (NMA), and a mother.
The Sintei family has described her passing as a monumental loss to a generation.
