Tragedy in Anambra as Man Allegedly Kills Lover’s Only Son Over Relationship Dispute
The peaceful community of Uli in Ihiala Local Government Area, Anambra State, has been thrown into mourning following the brutal murder of a young man in his 20s.
The victim was allegedly killed on Sunday night by his mother’s lover, identified simply as Gozie, following a series of heated arguments over the suspect's frequent visits and overnight stays at their home.
According to reports from Punch Metro, the victim’s body was discovered days later in a pool of blood with deep machete cuts to his head.
Neighbors became suspicious after not seeing the occupants of the compound near the Anambra State University campus for 48 hours.
Upon entering the room, they found the lifeless body, leading to an immediate outcry from the local youth.
“When they entered the young man’s room, they found his corpse with deep machete cuts... youths in the area immediately launched a search for the suspect and the boy’s mother, but they had fled,” an eyewitness revealed.
The incident sparked a violent retaliation, as angry youths from the neighboring Egbu community—where the deceased hailed from—stormed the suspect’s family compound and set several buildings on fire.
While the Anambra State Police Command spokesperson, SP Tochukwu Ikenga, is yet to formally confirm the details, police sources in Ihiala indicate that the case is being transferred to the State CID as a manhunt for the fleeing lovers continues.
