Operatives of the Department of State Services (DSS) have successfully rescued Alhaji Hamza Durya, the Administrative Secretary of the Kibiya Local Government Council, who was abducted from his residence in Durya village.
The operation, confirmed on Wednesday by the Kano State Government, also resulted in the capture of two suspected kidnappers.
Kano State Commissioner for Information and Internal Affairs, Ibrahim Abdullahi Waiya, hailed the rescue as a major victory for the state's security apparatus.
The rescue mission involved a coordinated strike that left the two suspects with gunshot injuries before they were taken into custody.
“In a well-executed operation, DSS personnel successfully freed the victim and apprehended two individuals believed to be involved in the kidnapping. The suspects were injured in the process,” Waiya confirmed in an official statement.
The Commissioner attributed the success of the mission to the proactive support of Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf, who has prioritized providing resources to security agencies across Kano’s 44 local government areas.
Residents are encouraged to stay vigilant and continue reporting suspicious movements to authorities to sustain the current peace in the state.
