The United States Department of Defense has officially placed its industrial base on a “wartime footing,” announcing three major agreements with defense giants Lockheed Martin, BAE Systems, and Honeywell Aerospace.
The move aims to quadruple the production of interceptor missiles and high-altitude defense components as stockpiles dwindle due to the ongoing conflict with Iran.
According to the Pentagon, Lockheed Martin and BAE Systems will accelerate the production of “seeker heads” for the THAAD anti-missile system.
Additionally, the U.S. is ramping up output for the Precision Strike Missile (PrSM)—the tactical ballistic weapon recently used for the first time against Iranian targets as a successor to the ATACMS.
This military escalation comes as diplomatic efforts hit a wall. Iranian state television (Press TV) reported on Wednesday, March 25, 2026, that Tehran has officially rejected a 15-point peace proposal conveyed by Pakistani mediators on behalf of the Trump administration.
“The end of the war will occur when Iran decides it should end, not when Trump envisions its conclusion,” an unidentified senior Iranian official stated.
Tehran has countered with its own five-point ultimatum, demanding international recognition of its sovereignty over the Strait of Hormuz, compensation for war damages, and a total cessation of hostilities against all "resistance groups," including Hezbollah.
While the U.S. continues to push for a ceasefire, the Pentagon’s new multi-billion dollar contracts suggest Washington is bracing for a protracted struggle.
