Bayer Leverkusen has secured the long-term future of Nigerian international Nathan Tella, announcing a massive contract extension that will keep the winger at the BayArena until June 2031. 


The 26-year-old Super Eagles star, who joined the German side from Southampton in 2023, has become a cornerstone of the club’s recent successes.

Bayer 04 Managing Director of Sport, Simon Rolfes, praised Tella’s impact both on and off the pitch, describing him as a "top-level professional" whose pace and technical quality are indispensable to the squad.


“Nathan Tella is a key performer on the pitch and an enormously important player in the dressing room. His identification with Bayer 04 is evident every day,” Rolfes stated during the official announcement on Wednesday, March 25, 2026. 


Tella, who had been the subject of several transfer rumors linking him back to the English Premier League, expressed his delight at the extension, calling it a "special relationship." 


Since his arrival in 2023, the versatile winger has evolved into a fan favorite, helping the team maintain its status as a dominant force in the Bundesliga.
