"It Doesn't Always Go to Plan" – Michael Carrick Reacts to Man United Draw with West Ham

Michael Carrick reacts Man United draw West Ham Premier League

Manchester United interim manager Michael Carrick has reflected on his side's draw with West Ham, acknowledging that "football doesn't always come easy" after their four-game winning streak was halted.

Speaking after the February 10 fixture, Carrick addressed the result with measured perspective. "Being together for a short space of time, I think we've obviously had big highs of the results and the wins, and I think there's times when it doesn't quite go to plan," he said.

United took a point from a "tough game" that Carrick admitted did not come easily. "In the end, we've took the draw tonight. So, it was a tough game, didn't come easy, sometimes football doesn't come easy and you've got to find a way and tonight we found a way to take a point."

The manager emphasized the importance of perspective, noting the team remains five games unbeaten. "It shows how challenging and hard it is to be consistent in this league. That's five games unbeaten with the four wins, I think it's a pretty good run and something we've got to continue really."

Carrick stressed the need to use the upcoming break productively: "We want to come back stronger and keep on improving in this little break we've got from games. [We need to] use it well and come back in a better place."

The draw prevents United from moving higher in the table but extends Carrick's strong start since taking over. His pragmatic assessment reflects both ambition and realistic expectations as the season progresses.
