The Senior Pastor of Harvesters International Christian Centre, Bolaji Idowu, has announced a financial support initiative aimed at assisting unemployed members who actively serve in various capacities within the church.
Pastor Idowu made the announcement while addressing his congregation during a church service, stating that the church would provide a monthly stipend of ₦50,000 for a period of three months to eligible workers who have lost their jobs. According to him, the initiative is designed to help affected members stabilise financially while searching for new employment opportunities.
“All those who serve in church who are in between jobs, watch what I said. You used to have a job, but you lost a job. For the next three months, we’ll be giving you ₦50,000 every month to help them till they get their next job,” Idowu said.
He explained that the support package is targeted at leaders and workers serving in different departments of the church who are currently unemployed. The pastor emphasised that one of the core responsibilities of the church is to support its members during difficult times.

“So all of those leaders that serve in the church that I just mentioned, we’re giving ₦50,000 just to help them stabilise. One of the things the church should do is to be there for one another, hallelujah, to help them stabilise,” he added.
To benefit from the initiative, eligible individuals are required to register with the church administration. Pastor Idowu noted that the process would be straightforward and would not involve rigorous screening, citing the trust already established through their service to the church.
“If you’re in that category, you want to see your pastor and your church administration and register. We’re not going to do so many interviews because for you to serve, we trust the fact that you’re honest,” he said.
The announcement was met with loud applause from congregants, many of whom praised the church’s leadership for addressing the economic realities facing many Nigerians. The initiative comes at a time when unemployment and job losses remain pressing concerns across the country.
The move has also sparked conversations on social media, with many commending Harvesters Church for setting an example of internal welfare support within religious institutions.
