Governor Uba Sani of Kaduna State has warned communities to stop protecting bandits, informants, or anyone helping criminals. His warning came on Tuesday as the state continues to face renewed attacks and kidnappings in different areas.
According to a report by Daily Trust on Tuesday 9 December, 2025, the message was delivered on the governor’s behalf by the Commissioner for Internal Security and Home Affairs, Sule Shuaibu, during a security stakeholders’ meeting held at the Headquarters of 1 Division, Nigerian Army. Shuaibu said many criminals are still able to operate because some individuals and communities give them cover.
He explained that no one should hide or support criminals, whether they are neighbours, relatives, or strangers. He added that community silence or sympathy for these criminals leads to more innocent people being harmed.
Governor Sani also noted that the fight against insecurity is not only for the government and the military. He said restoring peace requires full cooperation from communities, traditional institutions, and citizens. He mentioned that the state government has introduced several measures to improve security, including better support for military operations, improved intelligence sharing, and the strengthening of community-based security structures.

The governor said traditional rulers and local leaders now play a bigger role in intelligence gathering. He also highlighted efforts to expand early-warning systems and community watch groups, especially in rural areas.
Earlier at the meeting, Major General A.S.M. Wase, the General Officer Commanding 1 Division, described Kaduna as a strong state facing serious challenges such as village attacks, school abductions, and disruptions to daily life. He urged all groups to work together, share information, and create lasting solutions.
The meeting ended with a call for stronger cooperation to tackle insecurity across Kaduna State.
