The Federal Ministry of Education has officially confirmed the resolution of a technical error that disrupted the 2025 West African Senior School Certificate Examination (WASSCE) results. The glitch, which emerged during the post-processing phase in certain subjects, was linked to the use of serialized examination papers — a security measure implemented by the West African Examinations Council (WAEC).
According to a statement released on Thursday by the ministry’s Director of Press, Folasade Boriowo, the technical hiccup has been successfully resolved in collaboration with WAEC, and affected students will be able to access their corrected results within the next 24 hours via the official result checker portal.
“The Ministry commends WAEC for its swift action, transparency, and professionalism in addressing the issue,” Boriowo said. She added that this rapid response underscores the ongoing commitment of the Federal Government to ensure credible and fair assessment processes for all Nigerian students.

Boriowo further explained that the resolution aligns with the broader educational reform agenda championed by the Honourable Minister of Education, Dr. Yusuf Alausa. The reforms include a strategic shift toward digitization and integrity in examinations, particularly through the implementation of Computer-Based Testing (CBT).
“The Ministry, in collaboration with WAEC and the National Examinations Council (NECO), will begin phased adoption of CBT from November 2026, starting with objective questions,” the statement noted.
This transition is expected to significantly reduce incidents of exam malpractice, eliminate the risk of question leakages, and restore public confidence in the Nigerian certification system. Dr. Alausa emphasized that safeguarding the integrity of national examinations is “not optional but essential.”

Affected candidates are encouraged to recheck their results within 24 hours and are assured that no student will be disadvantaged by the glitch.
