Chaos on the Tarmac: K1 De Ultimate Banned from Flying in Nigeria for 6 Months After Airport Drama

K1 De Ultimate banned from flying after Abuja airport misconduct NCAA

The Nigeria Civil Aviation Authority (NCAA) has slammed a six-month flight ban on legendary Fuji musician, Wasiu Ayinde Marshal, widely known as K1 De Ultimate, following an incident at the domestic terminal of the Nnamdi Azikiwe International Airport, Abuja.

During a press briefing on August 7, 2025, NCAA’s Director of Public Affairs, Michael Achimugu, announced that K1 has been officially blacklisted from flying within Nigeria. “What I must assure the general public is that everyone involved will be held accountable. K1 will not be allowed to fly for the next six months,” Achimugu said.

The aviation authority emphasized that global safety regulations apply to all, regardless of status. Achimugu also revealed that letters had been sent to the Attorney General of the Federation and the Inspector General of Police to begin legal proceedings against the artist.

This decision follows a directive from Aviation Minister Festus Keyamo, who confirmed via X (formerly Twitter) that K1’s conduct, captured in video footage, could have endangered lives. “It appeared like a hostage situation. Blocking an aircraft from taxiing is totally unacceptable,” he stated.

FAAN had earlier disclosed that K1 attempted to board a ValueJet flight on August 5, carrying an unapproved flask of liquid, reportedly alcohol, which he spilled on a security officer. K1’s actions allegedly escalated into a confrontation that stalled the aircraft.

The minister insisted that all parties involved—K1 and the airline staff—be sanctioned equally. “All airlines, both domestic and international, have been informed of the no-fly directive,” Keyamo added.

However, K1 has denied any wrongdoing. His media aide, Kunle Rasheed, stated that the flask contained only water and that the situation was misrepresented. He claimed K1 remained calm and cooperative, and even received an apology from airport officials offering a private jet to Lagos.

The incident continues to unfold, with further developments expected as investigations proceed.
