In a move that has stirred widespread commendation across the country, President Bola Tinubu has ordered the immediate employment of 200 National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) honorees into the federal civil service.
He also announced a cash reward of ₦250,000 each for the honorees in recognition of their exceptional service to the nation during the 2020 to 2023 service years.
The announcement was made on Tuesday, July 29, during the combined President’s NYSC Honours Award Ceremony held in Abuja. Representing President Tinubu at the event was the Minister of State for Labour and Employment, Nkeiruka Onyejeocha, who emphasized the administration’s continued commitment to youth development and national service.
The President’s gesture was not limited to the 200 awardees. Tinubu also directed that 10 physically challenged former corps members, who sustained various injuries or disabilities while serving the country, should be offered federal employment immediately.
He assured the recipients that their sacrifices would not be forgotten and their futures were a priority to his administration.
In addition to job placements and financial support, all honorees—regardless of physical condition—are to be awarded postgraduate scholarships.
