A United States Secret Service agent is under internal investigation after allegedly attempting to sneak his wife onto a transport plane accompanying Air Force One during President Donald Trump’s recent overseas trip to Scotland.

According to The Herald in Glasgow, the incident occurred when the agent, based in Dallas, arranged for his wife — a U.S. Air Force officer — to receive an official briefing and be escorted to Joint Base Andrews. However, officials discovered the unauthorized plan before departure and ordered her off the flight.

President Trump, speaking to reporters on July 29 while returning from the trip, confirmed the development and criticized the move.

“Wouldn’t you think it might be a little dangerous? That’s a weird deal,” Trump said. He expressed full confidence in Secret Service Director Sean M. Curran to “take care of it.”

Secret Service spokesperson Anthony Guglielmi released a statement confirming that the agency had launched a personnel investigation.

“An employee attempted to invite his spouse — a member of the U.S. Air Force — aboard a mission support flight,” Guglielmi said. “Prior to the departure, supervisors advised that such action was prohibited, and she was removed from the flight.”

He clarified that no Secret Service protectees were onboard the transport aircraft, and the incident had no impact on President Trump’s overseas protection plan.

Typically, multiple aircraft accompany Air Force One during international visits, transporting security teams, logistics personnel, and support equipment.

This latest scandal adds to a string of embarrassing lapses that have plagued the U.S. Secret Service in recent years, drawing scrutiny over internal discipline and operational integrity.

While the agency has not disclosed the identity of the agent involved, sources say disciplinary measures are being considered depending on the outcome of the investigation.
