Top Boy Actor Micheal Ward Charged With Rape and Assault

British actor Micheal Ward, known for his breakout role in the Netflix series Top Boy, has been formally charged with two counts of rape and three counts of sexual assault by UK authorities.

According to a statement from the Crown Prosecution Service (CPS) London South, the 27-year-old actor is accused of offenses involving a single female victim, with the alleged crimes said to have taken place in January 2023.

Ward, who resides in Cheshunt, Hertfordshire, is set to appear at Thames Magistrates' Court on Thursday, August 28, 2025.

Catherine Baccas, Deputy Chief Crown Prosecutor, confirmed that following a thorough review of the evidence, the Metropolitan Police were authorized to proceed with the charges: “Micheal Ward, 27, is charged with two counts of rape, two counts of assault by penetration, and one count of sexual assault.”

Meanwhile, Detective Superintendent Scott Ware, who leads the investigation, emphasized the emotional toll such cases take on victims: “Our specialist officers continue to support the woman who came forward—we understand how difficult this process can be.”

Authorities stress that the legal proceedings are ongoing, and the actor is presumed innocent until proven guilty. Both the CPS and the Metropolitan Police have urged the public to avoid commentary or online sharing that could jeopardize the fairness of the trial.

Ward, of Jamaican descent, has also starred in acclaimed films such as Blue Story and Empire of Light, and was previously hailed as a rising star in British cinema.

The case has sparked widespread reaction, with fans and critics watching closely as developments unfold.
