The General Overseer of the Redeemed Christian Church of God (RCCG), Pastor Enoch Adeboye, has issued a solemn warning to Nigerian youths, urging them to remain steadfast in the churches God has divinely placed them in, instead of jumping from one ministry to another in search of signs and wonders.

Speaking during the June edition of the Holy Ghost Service held in the early hours of Saturday, June 7, at the Redemption City in Ogun State, Adeboye delivered his message under the theme “Destined for Greatness (Part 2).”
He cautioned young believers against the growing habit of "church hopping," emphasizing that spiritual progress requires stability and obedience to God’s divine positioning. “Discover where God wants you to stay, and stay there,” he said.
Adeboye also shared a deeply personal story, revealing that when he got born again, he was tempted to move between several popular ministries. However, God warned him in a dream that leaving RCCG would come with grave consequences. “God said to me, ‘The day you leave this denomination, your firstborn will die.’”

He recalled how the RCCG, then headquartered in a small building in Ebute-Metta, was relatively unknown. Despite being a university lecturer at the time, he submitted to the leadership of his spiritual mentor — a man with no formal education.
“I was a lecturer at the university. My father in the Lord didn’t go to secondary school, not even primary. But God said this is where you will stay,” he explained.

Adeboye clarified that his message was not about denominational superiority. “I am not saying we are better than any other denomination,” he said. Instead, his focus was on obedience to God’s specific direction for every individual believer.
The revered preacher concluded by stressing that greatness is found in divine alignment, not in chasing spiritual excitement across churches.
