Pastor Enoch Adeboye, the General Overseer of the Redeemed Christian Church of God (RCCG), has warned that Nigeria’s condition would drastically deteriorate if citizens stopped praying for the nation.
Speaking at RCCG’s national headquarters in Ebute-Metta, Lagos, during a special prayer session with security and paramilitary forces, Pastor Adeboye said the current level of peace and stability in Nigeria is only possible because of the power of prayer.
“Some say, ‘You’ve been praying and fasting — where is the result?’ I laugh. If we had not prayed, Nigeria would have been in a far worse state. Let’s not stop,” Adeboye stated. He added, “If those praying would pause for just one week, the difference would be terrifying. Keep praying. God controls the hearts of kings.”
He emphasized that divine intervention often works in unseen ways, reminding the nation that God’s presence, though invisible, is very real in protecting lives and guiding national affairs.
“Your security is only assured in Him,” Adeboye said. “Whether in peace or war, young or old, the Almighty casts a shadow of protection over His own.”
The session was attended by personnel from the Nigerian Army, Air Force, Navy, Department of State Services (DSS), Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC), Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC), and Nigeria Immigration Service, among others.

Pastor Dele Balogun, Special Assistant to the General Overseer on Administration, also addressed attendees. He acknowledged the ongoing security challenges in the country and assured the armed forces and security agencies of the church’s continuous intercession.
“These men and women have been saddled with the responsibility of defending our country. We’ve heard reports of some coming under attack. Regardless of religious belief, we feel compelled to support them through prayer,” he said.
Adeboye’s remarks come at a time when Nigeria faces critical issues ranging from insurgency and kidnapping to economic hardship. His message urges continued spiritual vigilance, emphasizing that intercession remains the nation’s invisible shield.
