Babcock University, located in Ilishan-Remo, Ogun State, has expelled a student, Oladipupo Siwajuola, over allegations of engaging in fetish practices, drug peddling, and other misconducts. The expulsion follows a series of events that began when Siwajuola's mother reported him missing, accusing the institution of negligence.
According to a statement released on Wednesday by the university's Director of Marketing and Communication, Joshua Suleiman, Siwajuola left the campus without authorization on April 28, 2025, disguising himself in a hoodie to exit through the university's teaching hospital gate. Contrary to his mother's claims that he was abducted and later found by his secondary school friends, the university clarified that he had been staying with a friend named Sodiq in Lagos. Sodiq's mother discovered his presence and alerted his family after noticing the online uproar regarding his disappearance.
Upon his return to campus on May 15, accompanied by his father, Siwajuola was invited by the university's Department of Secret Service for questioning.

He confessed to several infractions, including purchasing black soap from a traditional herbalist for N100,000, intended for use in a "Yahoo Yahoo Plus" scheme—a term referring to internet fraud involving fetish rituals. He also admitted to drug peddling, borrowing N500,000 from an online loan app to fund gambling, impersonating another student to open a bank account, and selling his phone without authorization, falsely claiming his father's consent.
The university's disciplinary committee found Siwajuola guilty of multiple offenses, including unauthorized campus exit, possession and use of fetish materials, drug peddling, impersonation, dishonesty, and unauthorized sale of personal property. The institution emphasized that the expulsion was in line with its commitment to maintaining a secure and morally sound learning environment.
While expressing displeasure towards the mother's public outcry, the university stated it would not pursue a libel case against her due to the responsible conduct shown by Siwajuola's father. The university urged the public to disregard false information and continue partnering with them in raising a generation of young men and women who reflect courage, truth, and responsibility.
