Police Rescue Abducted 22-Year-Old Woman, Arrest Two Suspects in Yobe

The Yobe State Police Command has successfully rescued a 22-year-old woman who was abducted by suspected kidnappers in Tashan Randa village, located in Fika Local Government Area

The incident, which took place on May 6, 2025, involved armed men who stormed the residence of Malam Maikudi and kidnapped his daughter at about 5:58 p.m.

According to the Police Public Relations Officer, SP Abdulkarim Dungus, a swift investigation by officers at the Fika Divisional Police Headquarters led to the rescue of the victim. 

Working with local hunters and vigilantes, the police traced the kidnappers’ hideout after tracking a ransom demand of N5 million, which helped pinpoint their location.

    Two suspects—Waiti Bello (30) and Idrissa Adamu (35), from Jangalawaje and Biriri villages in Gujba LGA—were arrested during the operation. A Dane gun and a motorcycle used in the abduction were also recovered.

    Dungus added that the suspects confessed to the crime and are assisting police with further investigations.

    Meanwhile, efforts are ongoing to apprehend the remaining gang members still at large. Commissioner of Police, Emmanuel Ado, commended the collaborative efforts and urged continued community support in combating crime.
