As Nigeria’s 2027 general election draws closer, the Social Democratic Party (SDP) has declared its readiness to challenge the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) and other major parties, expressing high confidence in its growing national support base.
Speaking during the SDP North-Central Zonal Caucus meeting held in Nasarawa State, the party’s National Vice Chairman for the North Central Zone, Abubakar Dogara, boldly described the SDP as the “nation’s political bride.” According to Dogara, Nigerians are increasingly embracing the party as a credible alternative to the current leadership under President Bola Ahmed Tinubu.
“We are intensifying membership drives across all levels — wards, local governments, and states. Our membership cards are constantly exhausted at state levels due to high demand,” Dogara stated.
The SDP, he noted, is committed to preparing its structures and grassroots base ahead of the 2027 polls through sustained engagement and regular meetings. He credited the progress of the party in the region to the contributions of notable figures such as Hon. Jonathan Gaza, Prince Adewale Adebayo, and Hon. Femi Olaniyi Ferrari.
One of the meeting’s key resolutions was to protect the party’s internal integrity by safeguarding its structure from external influences. Dogara reiterated that the party’s focus on welfare, security, and the rule of law sets it apart from the current administration.
In his remarks, Benue State SDP Chairman Idoko Idoto projected total victory in the state. “We’ve governed here before and field credible candidates consistently. In 2027, we are coming with full force to take over Benue and make a national impact.”
The SDP continues to rally citizens to join its movement, promising a new era of leadership built on transparency and constitutional accountability.
