PSG’s Kvaratskhelia Suffers Pre‐Final Injury, Doubts Over Champions League Start

Khvicha Kvaratskhelia limps off during PSG warm-up before final

Paris Saint-Germain have been handed a huge fitness concern ahead of their Champions League final against Inter Milan on June 1, as winger Khvicha Kvaratskhelia picked up an injury during the warm-up before Saturday’s Coupe de France victory over Reims.

According to RMC Sport, Kvaratskhelia was named in coach Luis Enrique’s starting XI for the 3-0 win but withdrew at the last moment after feeling discomfort. “He had a problem during the pre-match warm-up, so I decided to rest him,” Enrique said. “He’ll return to training next week and we’ll assess him then”.

Since arriving from Napoli in January, the Georgian international has been a PSG attacking linchpin, registering six goals and five assists in 22 Ligue 1 appearances, plus two goals and two assists in eight Champions League games this season. His absence would be a major setback for Enrique’s plans, with PSG already needing to overturn Inter’s 1-0 first-leg lead.

PSG have confirmed that medical staff will monitor Kvaratskhelia closely in the coming days. Fans and pundits alike will be watching the club’s official channels for an update on whether their star winger can recover in time for football’s biggest club showpiece.
