Jennifer James, a 49-year-old mother who beat cancer four times, was tragically killed by a stray bullet fired into her Colorado home. According to police reports, Ebenezer Worku, 20, allegedly shot into her house while "cleaning his gun," striking James fatally in the chest and arm.
The incident occurred on April 28 in Berthoud, north of Denver. Worku claimed the first shot was accidental, but he fired again while attempting to clear the chamber. James, a devoted mother of four, managed to call 911 before collapsing. Despite first responders' efforts, she was pronounced dead at the scene.
Her daughter Ashley expressed outrage over the senseless violence, calling her mother a selfless hero. Worku was arrested using surveillance footage and faces first-degree murder charges with a $1.25 million bond.
