Nollywood actress Mercy Johnson-Okojie has revealed that her recent weight loss was the result of a serious health battle involving thyroid surgery.
In a candid conversation with veteran actress Joke Silva, Mercy disclosed that she had a cancer scare and was forced to undergo surgery to remove her thyroid gland. The health journey, she said, was a difficult phase for her family, especially because her youngest child was only six months old at the time.
“I had a cancer scare and I had my thyroid removed,” she said. “It was a journey for us because we have kids, and my lastborn was six months old. We kept saying, ‘This is the new us. Let’s go get the surgery done.’”
The actress further shared that she has been placed on lifelong medication. “They said I can’t miss my medication, and they listed the side effects. So I’m reconciling with this new me,” she added.
