A devastating fire outbreak in Ibadan, Oyo State, has destroyed properties worth millions of naira, leaving two residential buildings in ruins. The incidents, occurring on Wednesday and Thursday, were confirmed by the Oyo State Fire Service.
The first fire erupted at Arije Ishola Layout, Amuda Ojere Basorun, after an unattended cooking gas cylinder exploded, gutting two rooms and a parlor. The second blaze tore through a three-bedroom house on Surulere Street, Oke-Ado, triggered by an electrical surge. Fortunately, no lives were lost in either incident.
Yemi Akinyinka, General Manager of the Oyo State Fire Service, praised firefighters for preventing further damage. He warned residents against negligence with gas and electrical appliances to avoid future disasters.
