Enugu Police Crackdown: 228 Suspects Arrested in Shocking Crime Wave – Kidnappers, Murderers, and Cultists Nabbed

Enugu Police Commissioner Mamman Giwa displays recovered weapons after arresting 228 crime suspects in a major security crackdown.




The Enugu State Police Command has arrested 228 suspects in a massive two-month crackdown on violent crimes, including kidnapping, murder, armed robbery, and vandalism. Commissioner of Police Mamman Giwa revealed the shocking details at a press briefing in Enugu, highlighting the command’s relentless efforts to ensure public safety.


Among the arrests were 33 kidnapping suspects, 12 murder suspects, and 44 cultists, with 33 victims rescued and 44 firearms recovered. A particularly gruesome case involved Oluchi Odoh, 26, who allegedly murdered her younger sister, Chinelo Odoh, 23, with an axe while she slept. The suspect also attacked her mother and a 7-year-old nephew, leaving them hospitalized.


In another breakthrough, police rescued a 4-year-old girl kidnapped by her neighbor, Esther Adejo, 55, in Nsukka LGA. The child was recovered in Abia State, while Adejo and her accomplice, Onyinye Benjamin, 62, were arrested.


CP Giwa urged residents to report crimes promptly, assuring that the police remain committed to keeping Enugu safe.
